Carlos Saura
Carlos Saura was born in 1932 in Spain. He moved to Madrid to continue his Industrial Engineering studies, yet his proclivity for photography, cinema and journalism diverted him to the film studies. In 1957 he finished the studies and received his director diploma. He is popular both nationally and internationally, winning many awards at the various international festivals: the Silver Bear in 1973 and 1975, the Special Jury Award in Cannes in 1973 and 1975 etc. Mama Turns 100, his 1979 film, also received an Oscar nomination as the best foreign film.
