A STOWAWAY ON THE SHIP OF LUNATICS

The final period in life of the renowned Serbian writer Petar Kočić was spent in the mental asylum at Guberevac, in Belgrade under siege in 1916. The film portrays the gloomy image of Belgrade under Austrian occupation in which the lives of doctors, medical staff and patients in the asylum build a tragicomic metaphor about life "on the free territory of Guberevac". The clash begins when Kočić’s old opponent from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who was the deputy military Governor of occupied Belgrade since 2015, appears in the hospital. Kočić’s old conflict with Herman reaches its tragic peak because this ambitious and untalented man, who pursued Kočić for years because of his social, political and literary actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, now sees the unique opportunity to finally take revenge on the man whom he blames for all his personal failures.

Goran Marković rođen je 1946. u Beogradu. Studirao je filmsku režiju u Pragu (1965-1970). Rediteljsku karijeru je započeo radeći dokumentarne filmove za televiziju (1970-1976). Od 1976 godine snima igrane filmove i srednjemetražne dokumentarne filmove.

Od 1987. režira i u pozorištu. Napisao je šest pozorišnih komada i sedam knjiga.

Goran Marković je profesor emeritus Fakulteta dramskih umetnosti u Beogradu.
