The latest film coming from director Ang Lee “Billy Lynn’s Long halftime Walk” is a part of the FEST GALA Programme at this year’s festival. In a Hollywood career spanning over more than two decades, a Taiwanese-born American film director and double Oscar winner, Ang Lee, has become one of today's greatest contemporary filmmakers. Known as the master of all genres, Li opted this time for a social drama and criticism of modern American society, through the portrait of a nineteen-year-old, a returnee from the war in Iraq. As his previous film, the Oscar-winning "Life of Pi", the film “Billy Lynn’s Long halftime Walk” is also an adaptation of a novel, this time of the bestselling American author Ben Fountain. Ang Li pushes the boundaries with this film, shooting the film in 3D, at 120 frames per second.
Li often gives a chance to young and unknown actors, and casts them together with the stars of American cinema. Such is the case with “Billy Lynn’s Long halftime Walk”. Joe Alwyn, a young British actor, is making his screen debuts as a lead actor in the film. Stars appearing in the film are Steve Martin, Vin Diesel, Kristen Stewart and others.
